About UKASL

UK Accrediting Services Limited (UKASL) is an independent accreditation body established to operate accreditation structure and promote quality through its own Memorandum of Association and Rules & Regulations.

UKASL was established in UK to provide accreditation to deliver on four goals relating to Integrity and Confidence, Trade Support, Linkages, and International Acceptance.

Accreditation facilitates international reputation by the way of establishing equivalence and global acceptance of certification, inspection and testing being undertaken by various conformity assessment bodies, in areas of quality, environment, food safety etc.

UKASL aims at promoting quality by enabling manufacturers and suppliers of goods/ services to apply quality standards and tools and simultaneously empowering consumers to demand quality goods/services. The promotion of quality encompasses all segments including manufacturing, health, education and public services.

Who we are

UKASL is a not for profit company limited by guarantee. It is independent of Government, and operates under a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government through the Secretary of State for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy. UKASL was appointed as the National Accreditation Body by the Accreditation Regulations 2009 (SI No 3155/2009)and the EU Regulation (EC) 765/2008.

The Board is supported in the day-to- day running of the company's activities by an Executive drawn from senior UKASL staff.

With an overall aim of providing the highest level of service, insight and specialist expertise to customers, UKASL staff’ strive to make continuous improvements within the areas of accreditation, certification, testing and inspection

A brief history

UKASL is an independent, third-party accreditation body established in 2000.

Agreement UK establishing the Governing Board, Technical Advisory Council and Accreditation Review Board of the Joint UK accredited.

UKASL is a not for profit international organization funded from our commercial activities.

UKASL accepts applications from certification or inspection bodies operating anywhere in the world, irrespective of their size, location or affiliation.

UKASL operations are overseen by a Governing Board. Our Technical Advisory Council and Accreditation Review Board allow us to bring technical expertise and stakeholder involvement to the development of accreditation programs and accreditation decisions
